Today is my blog's first birthday--it all started on July 22, 2012, with a post about garlic scape pesto. Since then, my recipe writing skills have improved, I've accumulated single dishes of various colors from Goodwill to stage food on, and I snap photos of my meal whenever I go to restaurants.
Looking over the past year's posts, I realized that I had accomplished much more than I thought:
- I won the 2012 Irish Fair Whole-Wheat Soda Bread Baking contest
- I cooked a vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner for my in-laws
- I drove up to northern Minnesota during a blizzard advisory for the annual Christmas cookie exchange with my best friends
- I discovered the ultimate biscuit recipe
- I finally made it to the Midtown Global Market (and then visited again, and again, and again...)
- I took cooking classes about whole grains and greens
- I successfully transported three dozen cupcakes to work via mass transit during a snowstorm (yes, this blog is definitely based in Minnesota)
- I hit the road for a culinary tour of Stillwater, Minnesota
And along the way, I've shared lots of my standby recipes, found some new favorites, eaten some memorable restaurant meals, and consumed impressive amounts of CSA produce. Thank you to everyone who's following along on my culinary journey, especially my parents (my most loyal readers). Thanks to Mike for the tech support, your willingness to try new things, and for your patience as I photograph everything before letting you start dinner. I couldn't do it without you.
Here's hoping the upcoming year will be as productive and tasty as the last!
