CBD products are becoming increasingly mainstream, and I'm excited to be working with Barlean's this month to promote their Seriously Delicious CBD Chocolate Mint and Extra Strength Ideal CBD Hemp Oil. I've been using Barlean's CBD products for the past six months, and they've helped alleviate some of my insomnia issues.
Not quite sure what CBD is? CBD oils are made from hemp, which is in the same plant family as marijuana. However, while marijuana is high in THC and low in CBD, hemp has high levels of CBD and trace amount of THC (less than 0.3%). You won't get high from CBD oil, but there may be other benefits. For more information, check out this information from Barlean's on CBD and these frequently asked questions.
Barlean's offers several CBD products. My go-to are the softgels, simply because they're so easy to take. I also use the Ideal CBD Hemp Oil, which is available in different dosages (I prefer the Extra Strength Ideal CBD Hemp Oil). Barlean's newest CBD product is Seriously Delicious CBD Chocolate Mint, which has a creamy texture and a dessert-like flavor.
While all of Barlean's CBD hemp oils can be taken straight from the bottle, you can also use them to make treats like raw chocolate bark, no bake cookies, or frozen pops (just don't heat the oil above 225 degrees Fahrenheit).
Barlean's asked me to develop a recipe using one of their CBD products, and I settled on a batch of no-bake peanut butter and oatmeal bites. They taste like cookies, thanks to the coconut and honey, and I also added Barlean's Forti-Flax Premium Ground Flaxseed for extra texture and a nutritional boost.
Although they sound too healthy-sounding to be tasty, the combination of peanut butter, coconut, honey, and a hint of peppermint from the CBD hemp oil comes together in a delicious way that reminds me of a Christmas cookie. Mike and I polished off most of my first batch in a single day, and they were also a hit at his weekly game night. You can make the peanut butter and oatmeal bites gluten-free by using gluten-free oats, or vegan by substituting maple syrup for the honey.
If you'd like to try Barlean's CBD products for yourself, I'm giving away your choice of a bottle of Seriously Delicious CBD Chocolate Mint or Extra Strength Ideal CBD Hemp Oil to a randomly selected reader—enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below by midnight on May 27, 2019 (U.S. residents only).
Yield: about 16 tablespoon-sized bites
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons Barlean's Forti-Flax Premium Ground Flaxseed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 droppers Barlean's Extra Strength Ideal CBD Hemp Oil
Add oats and coconut to a food processor and process until oats are finely ground.
Add the peanut butter, honey, flaxseed, salt, vanilla, and CBD hemp oil. Process until ingredients are well-mixed to form a crumbly dough.
Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on prepared baking sheet. Freeze until firm, about one hour.
Let the bites thaw slightly before eating. Store tightly covered in freezer.
